Over the course of one month I travelled through wind, rain and snow to visit 18 members of the all girl choir Gaggle in and around London. Lianne Bell, was the 1st member to be visited.
It was freezing cold in Leytonstone on Saturday morning in January when I arrived at Lianne’s home. She was moving house that day and had still not packed. But that is not the reason why Lianne’s clothes were all over the floor – she doesn’t have a proper wardrobe – her wardrobe is a floordrobe. Lianne was born in Blackpool, she is an Ethical Compliance Assistant and a member of Gaggle where she is also known as Belle.
When and how did you join Gaggle?
How and when did you join Gaggle? – two years ago I moved into a warehouse space in mile end it is affectionately known as the dungeon. Three boys inhabited it, one known as Princess, Ocean and Deborah’s writing partner Simon. Six months later and a few drunken dungeon nights with Ang and Polly, I found myself gaggling on stage at Somerset house.
What does your bedroom mean to you?
I’ve moved house a lot – 9 times in 3 years! So my bedroom is never what I want it to be because by the time I have the money to make my own I end up moving again.
What object in your bedroom that particularly means something to you?
I don’t have many sentimental things because I literally lose everything! My favourite object is probably my photo album that my best friend Suzie the Shovel made for my 21st birthday. It’s a story of our group of friends from the four years we lived together in Leeds and its one of the best presents I’ve ever received.
What makes you happy?
Sunshine, peace and peanut butter.
When did you last cry and why?
Last week – I’m a wimp.
If you could invite anyone into your bedroom who would it be and why?
There are many people I would like to invite into my bedroom – particularly a number of well-known boys but since I’m trying to be profound rather than perverse I’d have to say Jennifer Saunders just because I think she’s bloody awesome, she’d be a right laugh and I could quiz her on her career.
What would you save if your bedroom were on fire and why?
Definitely my photo album and my vintage Moschino waistcoat – it was a bloody good find! I lost it for seven months last year and only recently found it nestled under a drum in the dungeon so I will not lose it again (touch wood).
What keeps you awake at night?
I try not to watch the news as it turns me into a worrywart.
Naked or bed clothes?
Normally I would say naked but my amazing best friend (Porris) has just come back from the states and she bought me a pair of bright pink fleecy Paul Frank pyjama bottoms, so I will have to say bed clothes.
