Katie Shillingford fashion editor of Dazed at home with her Daughter Mila – photographed exclusively for the brilliant and freshly launched Mothers Meeting book: HOW TO BE A HIP MAMA WITHOUT LOSING YOUR COOL.
Katie works with photographers including Matt Irwin and Rankin. In addition to shooting fashion stories and covers for Dazed, Katie works closely with fashion designer Gareth Pugh, styling both his womenswear and menswear shows and film projects. Katie lives in East London with her Husband Alex Dromgoole and their daughter. A simply stylish home, I took the opportunity to step out of the bedroom and take in a bit more of the home.
Where do you get your home interior inspiration from?
Mostly copying things I see in restaurants, bars, cafes, hotels and travelling. I like things to be clean and simple as I have a lot of stuff – so I need a very blank canvas.
What do you not like about your home?
When it is empty.
What is the favourite part of your home?
My roll-top bath.
The least favourite part of your home?
The lack of storage for our ever-multiplying stuff.
What do you most like doing at home?
Reading stories to Mila, curled up on the sofa or under the duvet. If you could live anywhere, where would it be?
Somewhere in the countryside with nature all around. Because sometimes London gets a bit chaotic and I feel the need to escape to get some fresh air.
